204,22-250,223 if you want to save fur, have taken them at less than 50 yards with a 22lr. If your not worried about fur, use what ever your comfortable with  Also close ranges 12ga works great

What is your end goal for hunting them?  Are you looking for a nice rug or mount? Possibly selling some furs to make up a little gas money maybe?

That will influence what caliber/bullet you choose to use.

Yotes are small and fast, so something you shoot well is a priority, since you will want to hit what you are shooting at.

Any of the above calibers mentioned will work, just the end results will vary.

I have a .22-250 & .22 Mag, but will take a poke at one with whatever I have at the time.  I have taken them with .22 Long rifles up to a .300 Win Mag...that was not pretty!

22-250 or .243 would be my choice..

But I will pop them with my .270 as well.  :chuckle:

I've used my 06 with ball ammo and it wasn't too hard on the fur. I say use your normal hunting rifle if you just want to kill them, good practice.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Are you in an area that is restricted or just not safe to shoot a firearm?

If not, my .22 Mag will whack a yote with reasonable authority and is fairly quiet...all things considered.

Mine is currently set-up for "working" the night shift once the modern deer & elk seasons end...
