Proud Dad here!
« on: November 15, 2013, 03:41:33 PM »
This is my 13 year old daughter's second year of deer hunting.  Last year she got a nice 2 point blacktail and made a textbook, perfect shot.  This year she had been passing on bucks left and right during regular season saying that she wants a bigger one.  Fast forward to today.   We had planned to go for an evening hunt after she got out of school.  I happen to have the day off.  As I pick her up I ask "Ya ready to go huntin'?  "The weather is just right".  She asked if we could wait until tomorrow.  I asked why.  She then tells me that her best friend since age 5, who she went through hunter's ed with has been hunting for 3 years and still hasn't gotten a deer and that she felt bad.  To make things worse, her friend's dad has barely hunted with her this year and has picked this week to go hunt out of state and leave her behind.  :bash:  My daughter tells me that she knows that the conditions are perfect right now but she wants any buck that we see for her friend to be able to shoot it and then maybe my daughter would shoot the next one.  :)  So, her friend is spending the night so we can hit it early in the AM and try our hardest to get that lil gal her first buck!  I'm so proud of my daughter for thinking of her friend first instead of herself!  You don't see that very often in kids these days.
