gmu 658 north river cow tag
« on: November 05, 2008, 08:53:04 PM »
I have a cow tag that goes into effect this Sat (nov. 8th - 13th) for gmu 658 North River. Due to the area being mostly red and yellow dotted this year and my work schedule I havent been able to do alot of scouting so I'm gonna be winging it. If anyone has any info to share I would appreciate it. I'm not after your bull just a nice fat cow!!

Thanks all and good luck

there are plenty of green gated areas out there. I just got back from hunting that area (stayed at mom and dad's in Raymond). There are plenty of elk out there but with all the logging after that windstorm they seem to be hunkered down in the reprod and thicker bottoms as alot of the bigger timber patches are gone. The area off the Joe Creek F Line (Rockcrusher hill) is green gated. You can go back in there and work alot of area.

Seriously, I can't beleive you posted this.....you live  IN THE UNIT.  You should be able to walk from Cosi and shoot a cow behind the golf course.

excuse me for insulting your obvious far superior intillect Mr Goodwrench. I dont hunt the area much due to the EXTREME out of area pressure and was unable to scout much due to 90% of the area being red and yellow dotted. I'll be sure to et your permission before i post in the future.  On second thought I wont because your obviously too smart for a normal guy like me to converse with.

Those red dot roads would probably be a pretty good place to start.  Get behind gates and you will find sign.

Hey man, I wasn't tryin to run you down, I just figured a guy from Cosi atleast knew about the golf course herd.  Most of that unit was open during muzzleloader season, I know it was dotted up for bow season, I figured it was wide open for rifle guys, other than where Weyco was pickin up blowdown.  Just remember, the red dot roads keep the out of area pressure off the good spots!  Did ya whack a cow?
