Muzzy buck down
« on: November 29, 2013, 02:32:45 PM »
I got this guy yesterday. My first big game kill on Thanksgiving. Definitely not the quality I was hoping for but with his inferior genetics and my limited time in the field I decided to take him. I'm happy with him. Made a good stalk on him so it made the hunt memorable. Meat in the freezer!

Nice little buck. How do you know he has inferior genetics? He looks from the picture like a young buck, may be only a 1 1/2 year old buck and instead of spikes or a forked horn he has more, great genetics. Any white tail that you can get  with a muzzle loader is great. Wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving.

I think he's probably a 2 1/2 year old deer. I guess he's really not that bad for a young buck, he is just a little weak on the one side.  Removing him from the gene pool wasn't really a main motive, just a way for me to feel better about not holding out for the big one I saw the day before.  :chuckle:
