ELK SEASON CLOSURE
« on: November 06, 2008, 11:15:54 AM »
Hey all, a few guys I work with have mentioned that they heard that all elk hunting may close in the state of washington in a few years to help build up the herds again. Has anyone else heard of this? I'm not sure of their source so it could be just a rumor. I sure hope so!!
To God alone be the Glory!!

How about closing the reservation down, that would improve the elk herd  :chuckle:

While I would love the idea of MORE elk in this state, they are in fact trying to REDUCE the St. Helens and Yakima herds.....because some farmers are crying about depredation.

So, I'm saying BS on this rumor

I would love to have this state be one of the top states to hunt in but there are too many stupid and greedy people to make that happen.  So I call BS

they were talking of making the olympic pennisula permit only. when i bear hunted there. mass indian's hunting.i started hunting there in the 80's. it is devasated like the nooksack. man i would see alot of bull's. and big herd's. stopping the logging didnt help either. big change's coming people. and the indian's will keep on hunting. try stopping them. we the white people are the minority now.Rick

Even if they did shut "us" down (I do not believe this would happen) they could not or would not shut the tribes down.

So the decimation would continue.

You should look on the WDFW web page and read all the documentation they have. They are pretty transparent about what they are doing, when, and why.
The link below doesnt at all reflect the rumor you heard.

I really can't see them closing down the entire state. They are way to greedy for our tag and license money to do that!

there is no way that the state will close down all elk hunting to let the herds bounce back for awhile the blues, yakima, and northeast herds are all above management objectives last i heard, and if they could find a way to protect the colockum bulls that herd would be thriving as well, dont know much about the westside but i know the populations are high around st. helens. closing the elk hunting to let the herds rebound? come on why are we even discussing it? :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
