Now that is a nice Bull!!!!!  Congrats!!!!
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

We went up there today to help buddy set up camper.  Not near the sign we are used to seeing.  I'm sure there will be some elk to chase, but might take some better weather to make it worth while.

I hunted modern for 6 years in the Winston unit. I saw some fine elk taken out none were mine. I was surrounded by hunters  :( some after chatting with I wouldn't take to the rifle range and feel safe. To be fair I also talked to some fine hunters :) . At best it was a great motivator to become an archery hunter which I did last year. As luck would have it I drew a Toutle tag last year and never entered the Winston. I brought home a very respectable 5x3 and now I'm absolutely hooked on archery for elk from now on. I hunted 4 days early season in the Winston this year and only ran into 1 other hunter a couple of miles behind the closed gate we go in. I loved it, though it was very hot for early. I had an excellent chance to take a cow but chose to wait as I was going down to Willapa Hills/Ryderwood next and was hoping for a bull still. I plan on hunting at least half of the late season in Winston and am hoping the crowd will be the same. Good luck to all.

i drove up in the winston unit today, just to see how many people were there. WOW, doesn't anyone work anymore. holy *censored* there were tons of people everywhere. combine that with the muzzle loaders on the other side of the road and the poor elk don't stand a chance. good luck to all the guys going up there. hopefully you can get away from the people.

hey bigshooter, tell your dad he needs to put a high fence around that area where he killed that bull. that's the only area up in the winston that seems to hold decent bulls. did you ever put a tape on him? i see you're still using my measurements.

Well we drove up there just to see the zoo. :o The gate keepers said no one  got an elk or deer yet, that was about 2pm. We saw hunters draging out from the 1900 gate , tounges hanging!
Friday through next week all the gates will be open to travel into!. SHhhhh don't tell anyone! :dunno:

Have not scored him yet.  When he gets it back from the taxidermy, I will get you my official score.   I'm going to bet you not an inch over 258.  Porkchops 6x6 scored 248 and this one is a little bigger.
