Deer Feeders

Anybody have any experience with deer feeders for large feed like garbanzo beans?  I bought a moultrie pro magnum feeder that I attached to a barrel...it works awesome, except the garbs will often jam up where they come out of the barrel and stack up on the spinner.  There is no adjustment of any kind on the spinner plate from what I can tell.

Anyways, recommendations for feeders that work well with large feeds?  Tips for making what I have work better? I'm all ears.

try to build cheap redneck feeders i found the best results with them.  3 or 4 inch pvc and a cap for the top and elbow at the end to make it gravity fed.  had excellent results.  no luck on the big feeders yet.

I like the the feeder that montanarcher described. I use a wye at the bottom with a second cap. I have bears too, so I use 4-6" water PVC water pipe. A stick about 6-7' will hold enough corn/grain to feed for about 45-60 days. I strap it to a tree with metal plumbers strap. Good Luck!

How much feed will they hold?  My deer will eat 80 lbs a night and still want more.

Is it something like the Boss Buck gravity feeders on cabelas?  Do you guys use/recommend any commercially available ones?

A seven foot pipe, 6" in diameter, holds 10 gallons. In the corn/grain mixture that's about 40#'s. They have to work harder for it and mine is in a food plot I planted. They can't hammer it like if it was spread out. I can't use anything like the Boss Buck feeder, bears would trash it. It just keeps them coming around so I can find them come hunting season.

Will wet COB feed through the gravity feeders?

I'd like to find a feeder that only allows them to eat from it when I want them to. Not like a spreader type cause once its on the ground they can eat it when ever. I want a feeder that holds 100-200#'s and closes up when I set it to. I think with some time I could train them to eat during day light instead of show up just after shooting light ends.

I was wondering the same thing. I would think it would be ok during late season but with warmer temps it may clump up.
