What is your experience with 3D camo?
« on: December 11, 2013, 07:09:40 PM »
I have been wanting a ghillie suit for years. Mainly for coyote hunting. But I have watched a guy cross an open field army crawling in a ghillie suit and go from 150 yards from a heard of elk to 35 without the elk getting spooky or even staring at him at all. Later that same day he walked upright through some timber towards a bedded blacktail buck. Went from 75 to 20 yards and sat down. I tried following in my normal camo and never broke 60 yards before he spooked. I have been wondering about using 3D camo for deer/elk hunting mainly for muzzleloader season. Generally, I do a lot of covering ground and still hunting, so would that be too much stuff to wear to try doing so? In your opinion of course.

I use the Cabelas brand "Leafy wear II" 3D camo. Its light weight and breaks up your outline very good. This stuff will not keep you warm and that's why I like it. It is like screen door mesh with camo material stitched on to it and is VERY durable. It cost about $120 for pants, coat and 3/4 face mask. Good stuff IMO and your not spending tons of money on gimmicks. I use this muzzy hunting.
