what bow to purchase for next years archery season

i have an alpine archery compound bow bought back in 1994  works excellent but want to upgrade.  did end up killing a 2x2 blacktail over the weekend and still impressed with my older compound.  been looking at mathews and struthers bows.  want a fast bow and do some long shooting.  i have heard some really good luck with mathews any suggestions out there.  live in port orchard going to start looking soon.  thanks for everyones help.  joe us navy

Go see Charlie at Penisula Premier Pro Shop, he has a ton of Mathews bows right now, shoot them all  and see what feels best.

I just heard that Charlie at Penisula not only has a bunch of Mathews and Mission bows to try out he also has a used strothers at a significant savings over new.  I would make a trip to see him this weekend.

Its good that you have a bow to compare the feel of a new bow against.  I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.  I am not a big Bowtech fan.  I shoot a 2006 model Mathews XT that I bought new.  I will either buy a new Mathews or Hoyt.  I like the look of the Hoyt line up but will definitely stick with the BIG TWO.

Im a life time hoyt shooter ive owned several but a bought a elite energy 35 this year and i absolutely love it!! I highly recommend you go and shoot one .

I'd look at the PSE line up. I bought the EVO a few years ago and love it, speed and comfort.
if you want fast look at the new PSE Full Throttle... 370 fps.

It's like wearing your buddies underwear, they may fit but don't feel right. Shoot as many as you can, repeatedly. It's about what feels good in your hands. You won't make a clean shot with something that doesn't feel good to you. I've been wanting a new now for years, but so far nothing has felt as comfortable as my old Martin.

I have to laugh at the guys with tunnel vision that think there are only a couple bows to choose from. There are several reputable companies making bows that will shoot better than you will. Get your hands on all the bows you can.  Don't think you need to shoot brand x to be Kool. A Mathews won't make you a better shot than a hoyt or pse will.  You'll find that there are faster bows that shoot just as smooth and forgiving. Which allows you to draw less weight and maintain the same speed.

shoot as many as possible. It's all about comfort and feel not the brand. When I went and looked for mine I ended up getting a Bowtech destroyer. It just felt good and shot good. The PSE Evo is smooth and fast. Check out limbsaver I've heard their bows are good too. Good luck!
