I have 2 harlequin drakes and was wondering about the potential of trading one toward the partial cost of having the other mounted?

Don't do it and don't publish this on a forum.  It is very illegal and a Federal offense.  They consider it barter.  You cannot barter waterfowl.  You could legally gift him the bird, but you could not receive anything in exchange.

 :yeah:

Do not do that as h2ofowlr stated!  It is illegal for not only you to do it, but as Taxidermist as well.

Thanks for the heads up, I was not aware of that and assumed it was permissible as with most animal skins. Kind of asinine but guess that is just the way it is.

Waterfowl are regulated by the Feds.  The state works within the federal guidelines.  Many of these laws are on the books from the 1930's as they were used to close down all the loop holes of commercial hunting.  The Feds will prosecute all crimes they get wind of with a pit bull mentality.  Not a place to even play games with.
