I ordered the wgrs sight today. Asked about the front sight but Williams said they no longer have any information  on the white rifles. So I will just in stall the rear peep and see if the front sight is tall enough.

I have a Lightening with a WGRS and a Williams front ramp.  I removed the Whit bead and installed a Williams fiber optic and also a fire sight hood.





I am really not fond of the WGRS, but it works.  I would much rather have a micro adjusting peep like a Williams FP or a Lyman 57.  The only reason I do not like the WGRS is that to sight it in it a slide & glide setup.  Eventually you will get if very close, but the FP or the 57 you can adjust it I 1/4 minute clicks just like a scope.

I have one each of the Williams FP and Lyman 57, on a couple Super Safaris I have. They both work very well and for bench shooting I love them. However I find out in the woods they are both very easily caught on clothing and brush. I prefer the WGRS for both cost and how sleek the site is. Peeps for my aging eyes are just easier to use. Personal preference comes into the equation I think. Peeps are great no matter what model or brand.

In Idaho as well as Washington we have to use open sights also... I have never had a problem with either of the 2 peeps and they are both rugged as heck anyway.  The 57 is even better than the FP, press a button and change the elevation to the range you want.  Anyway like I say if I had the choice I would never purchase a WGRS by choice.

I have a White muzzleloader I got for my wife back around 1990. I like it way better than the Knight guns our friends have. It's accurate with just about anything I put in it. I'm a traditional shooter but I've been known to carry her gun.  I like it. I'm not a fan of the Knight guns when I could have the White.

Does the Williams fire sight cover a lot of target at 100 yards? The guy on the phone said they were .060, my bow sights are .019. Also do you know how wide a sight you need for the dovetail?

I don't think it covers anymore than most of the other fiber optic I have used. I will press the one I have out of the ramp and see what is stamped. I don't recall the size.

Joe, I have a gold bead stamped 281. Williams should be able cross that to the correct firesite. My other front sites are Marbles fiber optic. I use a Williams site press.

It does not cover all that much. I believe it is 3" @ 100.  But if you were to use what is called a 6 O'clock hold it would shoot where you aim.

For most ramps on most ML's including my Whites or Knight you need a narrow sight width... like a 243N
