Sturgeon Rules Question
« on: January 05, 2014, 09:03:57 AM »
I'm confused and could use some help understanding....

Sturgeon season runs from Jan 1st - July 31st (or until they close it) in my area.  If I killed 2 keepers last year, can I fish  for keepers again now?  The fishing year is May 1 - April 30.  Is the 2 fish limit per fishing year or calendar year?

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

The Columbia is open above Bonneville Dam right now for a small quota of keeper size sturgeon. 500 fish I believe. I think it closes on 1/19. Everywhere else is closed to retention.

Yep-  it is open above the Bonneville Dam for Retention... We got 16 fish yesterday ALL 1" to 3" shy of keepers sized...  No Keepers for us.  Shame is, a couple years ago you could catch keepers sized one after another- almost at a every other one rate of catch....  They are not there in numbers - they can't blame this decline on sea lions ---Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!  Frustrating it is for sure...
