The latest "rumor" that I heard was that Weyco is sticking with the Vail and Pe Ell pemits for 2014 and possibly jacking up the $$ but is not going to add Winston, St. Helen's, Wynoochie etc.

Yup vail and pell price is going to 300 and the qty of permits going to 1500 for each unit that's what I heard from a coworkers father that works at the pell Warehouser plant he hasn't heard nothing about the St. Helens area either but for St. Helens we will have to wait and see and another question will these access permits go up for sale after the special permit drawing are done?

If rumors are true its obvious its about the money for weyco!  No joke-I will not support these by attempting to buy a pass, and if it gets much worse I will not buy tags either.  I would rather plan a trip to another state every few years.  No revenue to the State/wdfw or weyco and maybe they will reconsider?  Or not.  Presently the Leg. should do something.  I think we need a local politician on HuntWa to organize a rally at the Capitall?!

I was considering Vail for $150 just because it would be nice to have a place close to home to take the kids and wife. But for $300 no way. I'll just go to the eastside in the national forest instead. Or another state.

 This has all been covered on the forum q couple of times but......
I'm not saying I like Weyco to charge for access but "they" own "their" property and "we" don't. If they want to charge they have the right too.

I agree it's private property and they have the right to do as they wish. The state also has the right to tax them at a higher rate.

I have heard the get a lower tax rate to keep the land open to the public, but no one has ever been able to provide the documents.  IF it is true, I would be the 1st to throw a few bucks in for a lawyer.

Here's the most prevalent rumor: the St. Helens Tree Farm will be divided into two pay-to-enter units (North and South). 

We need to contact our state reps. NOW right before the legislative session, and urge them to look at making sure the public gets public benefits (like access) from our tax breaks.  There are legislators willing to look at this.  We could have a system like Wisconsin or Michigan where there are separate property tax rates for timberland that allows free public access, and those that charge or don't allow access. 

 These public lands and resources could require a Weyerhaeuser permit next year...

7,000 acre WDFW  Wildlife Area (aka Mudflow unit)
35,000 acre Toutle State Forest plus 1000's acres more landlocked DNR land
Green River, Coweeman, North and South Toutle, E. Lewis, Kalama Rivers
three St. Helens Monument trailheads
Shores of Silver Lake
Parts of the Gifford Pinchot Nat Forest

We shouldn't have private companies holding all these public lands and waters for ransom!

Ya I know I was considering to buy a vail permit to take kids and wife up to hunt but for 300 no way bye the time I but licenses for kids and wife it be cheaper to go east side or out of state

Why don't we just keep this thread about info regarding if permit will be required, pricing,date of sale etc.

There is multiple threads already on views and opinions on this subject. It is getting difficult to find facts through all the opinions.
