Fishing in Oregon?

Hey all,

So I have recently moved down to Salem Oregon for work, but I now don't have any of my top 10 fishing holes for steelhead or salmon near enough for a day trip. I'm not too far from the Wilson River by Tillamook and was thinking of scouting it out next week.

Anyone willing to help me out and giving me an Idea of where on the Wilson to start scouting? Not asking for any honey holes, just for a place to start. Also, if you have another suggestion as to where I may want to try let me know. I just need to get some time on the river! 

Driving to the Grays Harbor and OP rivers in quite a treck from Salem.

Holy smokes, you have many rivers you can hit. 

Right now the best producing steelhead river is the Deschutes river.  I would get on Facebook as ask OutDoor GPS site this question.  There are many rivers: Trask, Mckenzie, etc...  Call Pavati boats and ask them as well.

The Alsea can be good and is pretty close.  The Tillamook rivers can be good as well.  The highway runs along the Wilson.  Best advise is to hit the pullouts and start looking around.  In the summer, the Santiams and McKenzie can be awesome steelheading. 

That is the thing I miss the most about living in Eugene.  It's great having such good summer steelhead fishing close to home.
