I have read and heard that weather kill.  I heard in from Guy Eastmen and when I called the Jackson Fish and Game department they said it was rough on some of the areas.  Not a big deal since I am getting points.

So a person can still buy points later this year?
POINTS ONLY can be purchased starting July 1 until September 30 I believe it is

Correct. No license needed, either. $50 for elk + $40 for deer + $30 for pronghorn = $120 and you're done. easy. I'm debating whether I want to begin the decades long wait for sheep and moose...  :dunno:

In the areas I am looking into near the Park they said it wasn't too bad. Maybe it varies throughout the state.

There was a change made this year that affects non residents, and from what I read, people are saying it's not worth buying moose or sheep points in Wyoming as you will NEVER draw in your lifetime, no matter how many points you accumulate. Do some searching on Eastmans or Monster Muleys, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Could you provide a link for this change? I am a member of Huntinfool and have not seen or heard of any thing that would indicate never getting drawn if you are non-resident..thanks!

I read that it won't get passed this year (update on MM from a couple days ago), but there is momentum and it will get done in the near future.  There seem to be a lot of people that think it will get scaled back to just the OIL species (this year's bill had a 90/10 split for ALL species).  So yeah, looks like our moose and sheep points might get significantly watered down in the near future.

Thanks for putting the links! Well, looks like it's a gamble...don't buy a point, or buy a point hoping it doesn't change... but if it doesn't and you don't buy a point, that is one less year/point for ya... hmmmm...

7,800 non residents shelling out $100 /yr =$780,000. thats just for points and just for bighorn.    I guess they want less revenue in the future.

It's looking like it will go into effect for the 2016 hunting season. It isn't law yet but from what I've read most people are expecting it to pass.

Here's something I found on it:

Quote
Wyoming currently sets aside 25 percent of tags for bighorn sheep and mountain goats and 20 percent of moose tags for nonresidents. Hicks’ bill would reduce that allocation to 10 percent for nonresidents for all three species.

I am doing points as well.  I heard the winter was pretty bad.

I've been hearing the same thing.  I'm going to start putting some points away for 2016.
