I've got an XDM 9mm 3.8" barrel, conceal and carry with a Comp-Tac S-TAC holster.....absolutely love it. I've shot somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 rounds through it, both reloaded and factory ammo. Never had an issue. Two thumbs up, can't say enough good things about it.

I guess we're still stock on the XD thing. For those that don't know the XD-S is completely different than the XD or XDm. It's a sub compact single stack. Almost a pocket pistol.

Agreed, I misinterpreted the original post as it looks like many others did too, thinking Caseyd meant XDs ( as in plural XD not XD-S ).

If you can, go shoot one. I have several  everyday carry guns, but I go to the XDs more than others.  I have came to the conclusion there isn't just one do all gun. My clothing dictates what I carry. I know many will disagree, but I want to be comfortable.  The XDs is easy to conceal.

I had an XD(m) in 9mm and while ultra reliable, tough and extremely accurate I despised the trigger. That long creepy trigger pull gave me a flinch that took me a bit to get rid of. I did a trigger job on the gun and it had a quite nice trigger after that but I had fallen out of love with it by that time.

Go shoot one, all of the XD series that I have shot had that same crappy trigger. If you can live with that then they are incredible guns. Aside from that the boxy shape was a pita to conceal as my clothes would catch on the corners.

While shopping you should have a look at some of what Sig Sauer has to offer.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I own glocks....this isn't my first pistol. Just want to try something different.

FC I agree that Sig makes some nice pistols. I shoot a 229 extremely well. But for this "quest" I'm on a lower price point  ;)

I just got mine back after Springfield having it for 3 months for the recall. Now when I rack the slide back, with the mag out, to eject the round in the chamber, it does a sideways stovepipe. WTF ! Never did it before. I'm using Hornady TAP 230 grn ammo. They monkeyed with and replaced 4 things and I think one is the extractor. Anybody else's gun do this ?
every one I have seen come back work flawless with a variety of ammo.

I called Springfield and they have had problems with what I described. Funny how they wouldn't have a recall on that too. That's a big safety issue too.

So, off to Springfield again for another fix............... >:(
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
