2014 big game seasons?
« on: January 21, 2014, 11:37:45 AM »
I thought this was covered awhile back, but I couldn't find the thread.
I am curious as to specifics on Archery Elk (east) and Archery Deer (east) season dates. Can I use the 2013 season and add or subtract a day or two? Does WDFW post on the web?
Thanks.
I apologize if this has already been covered.

It's not the easiest info to find. But look in this document:  http://wdfw.wa.gov/about/regulations/2013/wsr_13-03-152.pdf

I think you'll want to start on page 73.

I'm just collecting points until the 2015 season when the start date should move back to Sept. 8th. Then it will start going backwards again unless they change it to always start on the 8th which is what I think would be fair!!!

I'll be in the elk woods on opening day I don't care if it's the 2nd or the 8th.  My chances are still better than ghosting it.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I didn't mean to disparage anyone who chooses to not hunt elk because of the difference in days.

I only meant that as long as I can schedule the time off and hunt elk in this state, I'll be in a camp.

Not just the archery guys having to deal with it, though.  For 2014, rifle deer on the west side ends on Oct 31 as usual, and rifle elk on west side opens on Nov 1.  So, elk hunters will be setting up camps and making noise while the rifle deer hunters are still hunting (or driving at 3 mph  :chuckle:).  Then the elk hunters have to deal with having the deer hunters having stomped the brush up until the day before the season--since Oct 31 is usually best for deer.  Kind of a bum deal if you like both.  At least in 2015, west side rifle elk should start on Nov 8--give a good week between seasons.

I am an Elkoholic.....If there is an open season and an unfilled tag I want to be out there! The state is the dealer.....we are the junkies.

Agreed.  It'll be hot as heck for early archery no matter what so I don't care when it is anyway.
