http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2014/01/27/ABC-News-Has-Two-Handguns-Placed-On-Table-Tells-Kids-There-Is-Candy-On-The-Table

by AWR Hawkins  28 Jan 2014

On January 27, ABC World News aired a segment on kids and guns in which they placed two unloaded handguns on a table and drew children to them by telling them there was candy where the weapons were.

Diane Sawyer introduced the video as part of a report on "groundbreaking news" based on a Yale University study on "American children and guns" that claims every hour one child in America ends up in the hospital as a result of gunshot wounds.

Sawyer's co-host David Muir narrated an experiment at an elementary school in Florida where seven hidden cameras were set up in what appeared to be a first grade classroom. They showed the kids NRA Eddie Eagle videos on gun safety and had a policeman talk to them about avoiding guns.

They then placed two unloaded handguns on a table "and [told] the kids they [were] there for a memory test."  The teacher then told the kids she had to leave the classroom "for a second, but that there [was] candy on the table." There were numerous toys and crayons on the table, as well.

After the teacher left the children alone in the room for approximately ten minutes, two of the kids who had migrated to the candy, crayons, and toys picked up one of the real handguns and looked at it from all angles.

The camera then panned back to Muir and Sawyer in the studio, and Muir suggested parents ask their neighbors if they have "a gun in the home" and "whether it's locked, loaded, or put away."

I saw previews of it yesterday, and yeah, it looked like pretty trashy sensationalist infotainment.  The same or better end re: gun safety could be had by firearm safety education in schools (or other venues).  This seemed to be more for the pure effect of ginning up irrational fear of firearms, and to otherize law abiding and/or responsible gun owners.  Hopefully, ABC at least had someone discuss the rules of gun safety and ways to secure a firearm in the home.

They could put anything on that table and they would pick it up. What about the common poisons that most of use for cleaning and what not? The media is a joke and Obama's tool.

Good point. Gasoline. Matches. Fake bare wires. Car keys. Same thing.  Be afraid.  Be very afraid.  And then go next door and prove to your neighbor how much of tool you are.

A kid every minute? How many are gang shootings? What is the age of the kids shot?
First they should allowed the kids to touch the gun under supervision ,they should show them how they work and let them do it.

Than tell them not to handle without permission.

What is with candy and toys?

This is why it is so misleading to keep throwing around the word 'kid'.  When most people hear 'kid', they think about some 7 or 8 year old that likes playgrounds and ice cream.  The crime stats include 17 year olds and below.  So up until someone's 18th birthday they get counted as a kid.  The stats show most of the 'kids' shot are 17 year olds followed by 16 year olds then 15 year olds....and so on.  Most of them are gang members that don't bother with school, deal drugs and commit a range of other crimes.  They usually have a record of arrests and have spent time in the system.

Perfectly executed scientific study, as far as I'm concerned.  This looks normal to me, as I ALWAYS take out my guns and put them in plain sight and tell little kids that there is candy right next to them.  I mean, they already expect candy anyway, as that's how I got them into the van...

I would love to recreate this using all manner of things like knives, toxic cleaners, peperspray, tools, grenades,......... You put enough kids in a room and tell the not to touch something and then turn your back you can bet a lifetime of wages that at least a couple of them are going to do it. Touching a gun is not in itself dangerous. If a child is taught how to handle a gun it can be done safely. Stupid liberals on there gun grabbing agendas will do anyting to vilify guns.

The lib-tards are always stirring the pot to get a rise out of the pro-gun people. The lib-tards really don't have a leg to stand on, since we don't cow down to their agendas.

It's the sheeple we have to worry about.........sheeple are the ones to be leery of, they've got tons of money to back up their brainwashed minds.

Why bother simply reporting the news when you can make the news.   >:(

Apparently, that's what CNN does, too. They've been caught a couple of times saying they're reporting from location, only to be reporting from their parking lot or the studio. The fawning over the President on the news last night was really putrid.

Can't leave out NBC and how they edited the Zimmerman 911 call.
