I'm kind of new to this sight and I love it....addicted!!! I was just wondering about the use of Cow n'heat odors 4 late season...Would it do any good or just use a real good masker like elimanater or somthing to the effect? And one more thing, If I where to use "doe in heat" because I like to hunt late archery "West" side for deer! And I happen to stumble upon ELK would that odor scare them faster then not having it on at all? I have never really known one way or the other. I have used a strong cover for years, and have had trouble getting within shooting range. For the early season this year we did not use an cover and got in to them far more often than normal. I'm thinking just a nuturalizer, or maybe a fresh earth scent may be a better option than elk estrus... Just my

In my opinion, your best choice is to get a good set of scent lock clothing. This will go farther than any type of cover scent.....

Scent lock clothing is nothing but a gimmick but if it gives a guy more confidence then it may help. But it's not going to allow you to get up on elk with the wind blowing the wrong way.

I prefer to not be in a place that lets the wind blow my smell to a critter. It can be hard to do sometimes, but its free, not a gimmick. Scent Lok is ridiculous. Its funny how intelligient people can be drawn to a product that their better minds would otherwise dismiss.

Its all about the wind...thats how I feel anyways. I was just asking 4 other ideas. I really dont think all the camo in the world, sent lock, odors, real tree, mossy oak is going to stop the wind and smell. If the wind is wrong so is the stock! Thanks for the info and I love this forum and hope to be here and share my hunts and hear all your hunts for some time to come....thanks!!

I don't use Scent-lok, instead I wash all my stuff in scent free detergent and let it air dry outside if possible. I then keep it in a plastic container and get dressed outdoors. I do spray Scent Killer on my clothes. I don't use any of those estrus or urine scents. I've been able to get real close to alot of animals and have had deer and elk walk within arms reach.

I use base layers, wash all my clothes in scent free wash, store them in a scent free bag ansd change in the field, I also even use scent free gum, I will use urine scents for elk, its better to smell like one then not IMO and estrus during the Rut, if nothing else it leaves a hot scent trail for that bull/buck to follow right to me
