Mathews finally enters into the dual cam market
« on: November 17, 2008, 08:16:00 PM »
Kinda funny after all these years that mathews finally fiqured out that speed sells.  Fiqured when they were advertising 360fps they werent getting it out of a single cam.  The bow only has a 5 inch brace height, better have perfect form for that one.  Lets here your opinions?

5" brace height will be a bitch to shoot.  I give it one year and they will be back to single cam.  I have always been a mathews freak.  i loved their bows and how easy they are to work on.  Those guys are good they will get it figured out

It look's like I will wait another year before buying a new Bow!!! I'm also sure they will figure it out. But they gained speed with a short brace height? That's an OLD TRICK!!!

Well short brace height never hurt my ability to shoot and I have always been about ridiculous poundage and speed so I am in. Sorry Hoyt but Mathews is gettin the nod this year.

I shoot a Mathews LX, but I do not support any one company over another as being the bow to shoot.  Mathews was the bow I liked the most after trying them all.  Sales/Marketing is not rocket science, and Mathews will sell few of the Monster compared to the Reezen.  The fastest most radical bows sell, but are not the major sellers for any company.    Remember the Short Mags!!!!  Gun stores could not give them away a year or so after they came out.  No one wanted them, and few UM's are sold compared to standard calibers.  Yes they sell, but they are not the bread and butter.
Most archers have a hard time with the harsh draws and other issues with extreme speed on cutting edge equipment.  Mathews is an extremely successful company, and I don't think this is their first ever dbl cam.  They pioneered the single cam hence their slogan, but that will never limit them from other options. Still better I don't see any other single cam pushing a claimed 340.  I will stick with my LX until someone comes up with a bow that shoots my arrow as smooth, quiet, 10% faster, same poundage with good feel.  Then it is time for a new bow.  It is always amazing how the Chronograph and pull guage seem to stop all the loud screaming about how fast a bow is.  So I am looking forward to giving the Reezen and even the Monster a try.  I doubt I will go with a 5" brace as my archery hunting is usually in the cold, and I have a lot of heavy clothes on.
I did not like the X-Force draw and shot, so let's see if Mathews can actually step up the true top level for a hunting bow.  Worst case scenario I have to shoot that old (5 going on 6) junky LX that kills like lighting.

I haven`t shot one so i can`t really form an opinion. Not in the market for a new bow, so not real interested in shooting one, but if it`s like their other products i`m sure it`s nice, and very reliable. :twocents:

I dont see this bow being a huge seller either, with a 5 in brace height and cams as radical as they are. I dont see the average archer shooting this bow well at all, that much speed and a very unforgiving brace height....... :bdid:

Went to the local Matthews dealer today and happened to see the new ressen and it is the new 340fps bow and it has a 6.5 inch brace height.  The bow is sweet.  Not available to buy yet but there is one there to drool over.
