My Vet Reccomendation
« on: February 20, 2014, 05:07:01 PM »
I along with most of you love my dogs.  Owning dogs means we take full responsibility for them. Loving them taking care of them and so on.  They are not only our best friends they are our hairy children. Just loosing my dog made me think on somethings , maybe you agree maybe you dont but here is my rant.

I know that becoming a vet takes years of schooling and lots of cash and everyone needs to make a living. With that said I think the prices some vets charge are outragoeus and they should be ashamed of themselves. It is rediculous that one vet charges $500 to put a dog down and another only $100.
Sometimes when it is a emergency you do not have a choice but I am here to let eveyone know there is a place that you can go that is absolutely amazing.
If you have a pet and it is not a emergency take the family ,go for a day and have a nice drive.  You need to go to Columbia Valley vet in Astoria , Or..
They are vets because they love animals,, They make their money buy volume of customers not ripping the single person off.
I first learned of this vet when visiting my inlaws in Long beach. My dog got into a tussel with some other dogs and his ear was ripped right down the middle. my inlaws said we are going to Dr. Goza..
It is first come first serve, They sedated my dog, stitched his hear and gave us medicine on a emergency visit and only charged us. $75... Thats right $75... Here at sumner vet it would of been well over $400.
I had my dog nutered there. $50..
My inlaws thought their old dog there the day before they had a planned vacation. They ended up leaving the dog there for a week upon the dr."s recommendation so they could enjoy their trip. a week and a half later they came back. Know how much he charged.. $150.... Boarding, meds, food for a week for $150 are you kidding me.
We take our other dogs there when needed and also get our meds thru them because they are unbelievably great and they do it because they love it..
Columbia Valley Vet.... Do It.

And if it has not been said. If a vet wants you to buy meds, get a written script and go to costco. 50 to 75% cheaper guarenteed.. Thyroid meds for my dog at costco $9 any other place $40

Good info and I'm glad you had a great experience down there. For me, the gas would offset any savings but if I'm ever in the area and need a vet, I'm sure I will remember them. My vet here in Yelm is run by amazing animal lovers. They are also the cheapest around. Actually they are in McKenna but darn near the same as Yelm. They go by Horse Cart Vet. Totally happy with them. I feel I am getting great service at a very reasonable rate. That being said, I have 5-10 vet offices programmed in my phone. You never know when you may need a vet or where you may be when you need a vet. I have the numbers of vets close to my mant hunting areas. I needed a vet once when I was hunting and 911 stayed on the phone with me to guide me to the office. They were literally waiting for us with a bed and all the required equipment to stop or in this case, slow the bleeding. They saved her life. What the hell, I will put this vet number in my phone. Thanks for the good info.
