Razor clams! pics added
« on: March 02, 2014, 02:40:55 PM »
Did anyone else get out after them? My girlfriend and I went out and got 2 days worth of limits (Friday and Saturday), 7lbs worth of cleaned clam meat!

Her first time clamming, she got pretty dirty lol!

The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Roosevelt......... We went to Grayland and Ocean Shores. Good digging as usual.

My brother and I got done quickly then stayed and gave lessons to some greenhorns who weren't getting any. Got them dialed in pretty good. Was fun to watch them after they figured it out.

We hit Roosevelt the first day and Moclips the second. Totally different styles of clamming, shovel was the way to go at Roosevelt and clam gun was the best at Moclips.

Yup, Roosevelt is muckier sand and that makes for hard pulling with a gun. Actually, at Ocean Shores yesterday, the clams were mostly in the surf when we were there. (we left the beach an hour to low water) The gun was working good because There wasn't much time between waves. My brother was using a shovel and would get a clam marked, then have to wait for the wave to go out. I was using a gun and could pull them out while the water was in and be ready for the next show. I'm way faster with a shovel than a gun, but for 15 clams, speed doesn't matter.

We were at Grayland for the weekend, Thursday was excellent and easy digging but friday for some reason they turned into goeducks and were deeper than a bugger but we still limited and yesterday was easy again. Nice fat clams this time!!

Grayland clams have been nicer this year than they have for a long time.

We go down Warrenton Cannery Rd. then head north about a mile and out from the wind turbines. We used to turn left and go couple hundred yards south but nobody is digging there now. Might have to give it a try next month, could be some real fat ones in there.

Another good dig!

A bucket o'clams, steaming the shells off, cleaning, a steaked clam and a separated clam, dinner!
