Custom Precision rifles
« on: March 03, 2014, 04:14:18 PM »
Hey, my father in law is looking to build a custom precision rifle.  Money is not a factor.  He has a very specific gun he wants built.  He wants an action from defiance machine, either a deviant, templar v2, or something equivalent.  He wants it in 300 win mag, with a 20 moa rail milled into the receiver.  He wants a heavy barrel, unsure of contour, and set in a KRG Whiskey 3 gen 4 Chassis.  Wait times are anywhere from 4 months to a year.  He would like to keep it in state if possible.  Anybody have any suggestions? I see Rbros rifles, but I can't tell if they do full customs or not.  He's not opposed to out of state, but it would be easier in state.

I've heard nothing but good things about a site sponsor on here, RBros. :twocents:

RBros does full customs and are far and away the best in the Pacific North west.
Give Travis a call.
Here is on of the ones they have done for me:

6.5X47Lapua, Rogue action, Rock barrel, Manners stock, Seekins lug-rail-bottom metal, Jewell trigger.

RBros or Benchmark would be the only 2 I would go with.

Benchmark is working on my 30-378 right now and next year I think RBros is going to do one up for me. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

Will RBros build on something other than a Rogue or 700 action?

Still build plenty of customs.  The packages on the website are just popular builds to give ideas, but people aren't limited to them. The important thing is get a rifle that fits you and what you want when having a custom built.  That is the whole idea.

I only build on Customs and Rem 700's now.  I was spending to much time making tooling for all the other receivers and decided to consolodate.

I think I spoke with your father in law yesterday on this build.  Was the same specs as described.

That there looks like one of those "backward ars reelers" rifles right there. :chuckle:

I am very happy with my Weatherby Mark V based 270 Winchester that Benchmark put together. It weight ~14 pounds wet.

I recently added the WBY extended floorplate, and now it will hold 6+1

Yes sir, you did speak with him.  I gave him your number.  He ended up going with GA Precision because of the short turn around time of about 3 to 4 months.  It was as simple as that.  He wanted it quicker.  If the time frames would have been the same, he would have gone with Rbros.  He wants to be shooting it by hunting season this year, (if Powder permits).  He had nothing bad to say about your company, just a timing issue.

BOTW use Cooper rifles now with huskemaw scopes. Gunwerks used to be the rifles they used till the company split up.
