How to release your dog from a trap
« on: March 07, 2014, 01:59:19 PM »
You’ll need 7 minutes to get through the video, but its well worth the time to become better acquainted with various trap types and “practical” methods to release your dog.   I personally have had to release a dog from a snare style trap which was easy enough.  As with any emergency, the best advice is to take a deep breath and appraise the situation.  Preparation will make that appraisal much easier.

That's a great video.

Depending on where you live and/or hunt this can be a big deal. It got the attention of this publication...

Good video. That made it here two years ago when a lady's dog got caught in an illegal coniber trap at cherry valley. I personally saw the trap last summer when Kim stopped by to chat with us while training.

Someone must have been reading my mind.  A very good friend of mine who is a trapper was out yesterday.  We were talking about this very issue.  Dogs and traps.  He is going to bring out every kind of trap there is and do a hands on "How to release my dog from this trap" for me.   We did not set a date for this yet but I would like to do it within the next few weeks.  If any one would like to come join us you would be more than welcome.  This would take place just South and East of Chehalis, WA.
