Never Been Shed Hunting..
« on: March 09, 2014, 10:42:09 PM »
I never gone shed hunting or even found any sheds in the woods but know people that have. From what i read and the pics i've seen i Really wanna go out and try, But wondering on the details is it just like going on a hike looking at the ground hoping to notice something Or is there a game plan that goes with it. Or is it just scouting and sheds are just another sign of deer and you get a Token of the trip. Any Tips would be cool cause id like to get out there and see what i can find.

You gotta know where the deer and elk are at this time of year. They are shedding now and have for the last couple months. Find the game.....find sheds. Takes lots of miles and sometimes a sharp eye. Just put in some miles and you should stumble across something  :chuckle:  Once you can pin point an area where you are finding them a lot of times they can be found year after year in the same area as animals tend to winter in the same area year after year. Good luck. It's a very addicting hobby.

You have to get a permit in this state to pick up sheds. They turned it into a quota system and the quota is full. Sorry maybe try again next year.

Can't say I've seen many
proven grounds
out there that are worth
spending your time unless you have lots of
time or a decent shed dog.

I think you all are just looking in the wrong places.  I've found the most (and biggest) sheds in Home Depot's parking lot.

Get you a good pair of boots and just walk scanning the ground, walk lots of miles. YOU DONT NEED A PERMIT TO PICK SHEDS. If you ever around Wenatchee let me know we can take my dog and find some bone. Bring your binocs
To me its about the future
