I got a cow elk on damage permit with a great winter hide. Its in the freezer for the time being, is there anyone local to Snohomish county that you guys have used who can tan the hide (fur on preferably) for a reasonable fee?
Also, it was my first elk, shot her with a 300 WSM, using hand loaded 180gr TSX @ 230y. What i was real surprised about was that it was a clean heart shot full pass through and ZERO blood trail. Luckily trail wasn't needed. The hemorrhaging inside was like i've never seen. I don't think i could've asked any more of the bullet though. Looked like great expansion, carved out the heart, 2" exit hole on the rib cage.
