Ive only broken the 30lb mark once with a big fat king.  Looking to break 40lb this year in the Westport area.

That's a lot of fish!  I find that I don't like to eat that much fish and much prefer fresh fish.  I usually don't keep more than a couple fish in the freezer at any one time.

And, I also found that big kings aren't as good.  They taste fine but are a pain to cook.  The fillets are too thick.  I let anything 30 or over go.  It helps make more big kings for the future too!

Cut boneless steaks to whatever thickness you desire :dunno:

That does work and is good advice if your going to keep one.  I'd rather let them make more big kings and keep some smaller fish anyway, although I'd bonk it if it were a hatchery fish!

Can't argue with that.

We just have our little 12' fiberglass and 7.5hp motor so we'll have to be selective about when and where we fish but I'm hoping to get my son to land a 10lb salmon this year.  Some flounder and some salmon would make the summer for me and the boys

We broke the 40# class last year at Westport. Looking to hit a few more this year, but a boat load of 20's work just fine too   Plus some nice silvers to boot
