Justr Curious , Thanks I did not know Skookum had an IBO. It is about time. Good Luck.
I was told that they (skookum) wanted a leg of the triple crown but it didn't work out for them so they just did a IBO qualifying shoot.  It was the first IBO shoot I've ever done. A lot different than normal shoots.

All of the IBO shoots I have done were 40 targets. Was this only 30 targets?

Only 30.  I think the shoot this past weekend in Spokane was a 30 target course also.  I didn't shoot it but I know who took first in MBR with a score of 295.

Come get some did you ever go back east for any of the big IBO shoots?  If so what was your experience like?

I know Chad very well. I thought he shot a 395. I have shot Spokane dozens of times. It has always been 40 targets.I have been back east. Very tough competition. I am not sure if you will shoot the Pro division. If you do eat your wheaties. A winning score will be down between 4-6 points not including super kills.Worst case scenerio. The courses back east are different than our courses. They are FLAT, open lanes. No small critters. But still very challenging. The Competition is very close.

I've gone to the World shoot in Ellicottville.  It's a great place, venue, town, area, etc.  The town really opens up for that many people.  The lodging gets booked up quick; I get a room in Bradford, PA about 30 minutes away, and it isn't a problem, and it is a ton cheaper than ski-lodge rates.  The practice courses around town were fun and relaxed atmospheres.  The main course was challenging to say the least.  You ride the ski lift up and shoot your way down with 20 targets each day.  Expect some humbling shots: think 37 yard turkey, sidehill, downhill, through a little hole in the brush with no good footing in broken light.  There won't be one shot that you would say is a mail-in gimme 10.  The terrain is open grass with swales to hide yards all the way to thick tunnels like Cedar River.  Set up your practice course with criss-cross trails sidehilling down and try to use the terrain to hide yards and make compound angle shots.  TONS of shooters on the courses, so 20 targets takes most of the day.  Pack sunglasses, bug spray, food and water during your rounds.  Take mud boots and rain gear; at some point through the weekend you'll need them.  Lots of fun side games for money/prizes.  I loved the small-town atmosphere in the surrounding towns.  You'll fly into Buffalo and have a rental car, so don't pass up the chance to go to Niagara Falls.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

you will right 395 was the score.  I just assumed 295 and didn't read it correctly.

pro division :yike:  I just shot what they told me to shoot based on my equipment.  I had glue in tips so I got pushed back into the MBR class.  I don't really like Wheaties so I guess I'll just shoot and have fun.  Not going there thinking of winning just going to shoot.

Nope.  Too darn busy to get serious enough about 3D shoots lately, and having a new grandkid hasn't been cheap!  So I doubt I'll make it to one of them again until I'm in the old-guy-shoots-for-fun class.

My best advice is to go there with the intent on having a great experience.  They have a way of turning a 395 shooter into a 360 score if you take it too seriously.  Shooting alongside 410-415 shooters all day is great experience!  Cool things happen like having Levi Morgan come up beside you at the practice range and say at barely a glance, "That's not 50 yards.  It's 49.5."  Yeah, he was right; somebody behind us had a rangefinder and checked.  They'd measured 150' on the ground and lost a bit on a curve.  I didn't know who he was, but I knew then and there that the best had certainly brought their A game, and I was nowhere near that class.
