First I'll post the picture and I won't bore you all the fish we caught in 4 days just one.
We never travel on holidays because of a close call may years ago on US2 near Goldbar, WA. We decided to leave for Rufus on Monday AM with the idea of fishing from that evening till Thursday AM. WOW...what a time we had. First we tried trolling dragging some flashing gear behind the boat with about 1/2oz to 3/4 weight. That did well as long as there was Power Bait being used or a big dew worm. Then one evening I was just sick and tired of breathing two cycle so I suggested we head to the opposite side of the lake and drift with the wind or current. That was fun on all capital letters. I'd get in to about 30 to 50 feet of water then we'd put on about 1/4 oz of weight with a small spinner and Power Bait or a worm...BAMMM the buggers were nailing my wife's set up 3:1 from mine. Apparently they don't like (Suomilinen) Finn smell. We did this system for several days ending with this AMs outing. Pat got to see a big trout surface near our boat that really excited her.
Anyway we have the smoker going full strength. Getting ready for my daughter, son in law, new grandson from Juneau plus my son is arriving form Hilo, HI.
I wish everyone could stay about a month so we could camp, fish and hunt but alas everyone can only spare a week because of work, bills etc.
All in all we'll go back to Rufus but only when it gets cooler.

Rufus is a fun place indeed. I plan on making a trip over there in February or March sometime.

I have been having a blast the past few weeks running up there with my grandpa. Morning is definately the best. I was hammering them on a maribu jig. Way more fun jigging than bait fishing. That way you don't have to keep the first two you hook. Most of them are 5-8 pounds I have found. I would love to hook into a 15-18 pounder someday. It would be interesting on my light tackle

If it were a smiling contest I'm not sure who would have taken that one. Its a good thing you were banned from the photo contest, or that would have been a contender. Great pic! I'm glad you had fun.

Does this place freeze up during the winter for ice fishing?

Nope, because it is the Columbia River, so it has current. The more water they are letting out of the dam, the better the bite usually is.

Ok thanks, was just thinking it sounds like it would be a blast to catch them big boys through the ice.
