need your opinion on kimber
« on: April 17, 2014, 01:56:03 PM »
So I came across a friend that is offering to sell his kimber pro shop pro carry 2 for less then what he paid.  It only has 50rds down the pipe.  I really dont know anything about kimbers.  Does anyone on here have some info on how these shoot and are they worth the big money people are asking?
Thanks

I have a full size Kimber Eclipse custom II in .45acp in may i will have had it 8 years. I love it. It is by far my favorite handgun i have ever owned. When i am in practice i am capable of keeping my all shots on a 12in shoot n c target @ 50 yds that may not sound very impressive but it feels pretty good for fixed sights and off hand.

My first 1911 is a Custom II. Love it. My dad has many thousand rounds down the pipe of his Eclipse including one squib with a ruptured barrell. Kimber dropped in a new barrell, guide rod, and spring. Good to go.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.  I just wanted some opinions before I made such a large investment. After doing some research online, I would be getting a hell of a deal based on what he is asking and what they are going for online.

Anyone have the 4in barrel?  Is there any cons with the shorter barrel?

Love my 4" barrel.  It is still very accurate and easily concealed.   Matter of fact I prefer the 4".  If you don't mind me asking, what is he selling it for?

I really like 4 inch, very dependable, carry able, I do not care for shorter than that, and everyone should own a 5 inch steel frame 45 too!! :chuckle:

I have had 3 Kimbers, currently own 1.
5" all steel with internal extractor, as good as any mass-produced 1911.
4" all-steel is what my Pro Carry HD was and it was excellent.
Alloy framed are meant to be carried lots, shot little.  It's not that they won't survive being shot, they just don't absorb recoil like a steel gun.  And the alloy surface is a hardened coating, so if you try to polish the feed ramp or a mag follower abrades your frame, your SOL.

Have two,  a  Custom Covert II, and a SIS, also with a five inch barrel.  Love them.
