For all you experienced trail cam users what is the best way to prevent a trail cam from being stolen? I know the farther away from the road the less likely it will be stolen, but what do you guys use to support a camera to a tree. Thanks

Im the opposite of experienced, but...

• python cable by Master Lock
• steel security box
• a lag bolt into the tree though the metal box
• a pad lock enclosing the steel box.  Even if they cut the cable theyll still have to get through either the lock or the box in the field due to the bolt in #3 above

If you can get to it after all that, have at it.

I think the best bet is to put your cameras where most people wont go. I use a bear box, with stainless steel lag bolts, wide area washers.
  I left mine out  during hunting season last year, and 3 different cameras were found by hunters, nobody messed with them, but it still makes me nervous.

If I have them out during hunting season, which I often do...I take screw-in tree steps and mount them at least 9-10 ft in a tree with the camera pointed down at the trail or wherever I want it.  I lag bolt a mount in the tree, the bear box attaches to the mount with camera inside.  The bear box is padlocked and a python cable goes through the bearbox and around the tree.  Then I remove the tree steps when I leave.  Never had anyone notice the camera.

You should get one specifically cut to your cam's dimensions. I bought my first cams just a few weeks ago. One of them had the specific matching box next to it at the store. The other didn't so I just typed in its name + "security box" or "bear box" in amazon, cabbalas, etc and you should find what you need.
