heading out tomorrow
« on: April 24, 2014, 09:14:52 PM »
My reservations that I made a month ago, got lost.
Now I have to drive 40 miles each morning. I am peeved.
I used to only have to drive 5 miles.
I have to get up much earlier.

What part of the State? Good luck, I hope to get mine this morning. No gobbling last night, I just hope the big guy is in his usual roost.

Constant wind. No gobbling. No trotting. No Fanning. Except seeing a few jakes crossing the road, the earth swallowed them. I talked to a couple of locals and during the week they were out and about and strutting and gobbling.
Today nothing. Tomorrow thundershowers.

Same here, no gobbles. I worked a strutter w/hens today, couldn't rip a gobble to save my life. Even the 3 jakes that came to my call didn't gobble.

This morning in the rain and wind, I found where the turkeys have been. I came across several clutches of eggs.
All were broken and strewn on the hillside.  With the nests destroyed, I am not sure if the hens stayed around.

Someone must have sounded the turkey alert siren.
Now it is hailing.

As I was heading to the motel, a large flock trotted in front of the truck.
I had already packed up everything and could only stare.
