Lake Skanewa

I am planing on taking my daughter salmon fishing lake Skanewa once it opens and advice on the best date and or what the best rigging is would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

im not sure about salmon or steelhead timing but i know when the cow and blue start to move the fish the the other tributaries is alway when i see them rolling i dont fish it for salmon or steelies but i do know they net off a part of the lake by the boat launch and have a kids fishing derby for trout  and they put alot of fish in there and i think they put some large fellas also i bring my kids up there to fish you will see all sorts of birds dive bombimng the trout it is pretty awesome but good luck maybe ill see you out there

Havent been enough springers hauled up there to make it worthwhile yet. Depending on the run it may be about a month. Once it gets a couple thousand it can get decent. Later in the fall when the coho are hauled up it can be pretty decent. Most guys troll plugs.

We have been fishing that lake since they built it. The netted area is good for kids and mine have pulled a few large ones out. Bring a net some of the big ones run 5 -9 lbs. Trout fishing on the lake is good on the back side where the Cipus comes in and a little side creek also comes in.  Salmon can be found trolling from the net side around the point across from the boat launch. Stay to the right as the lake is not very deep on the left side. This works when they are dumping other wise go up the rivers.

How many fish do they usually truck up there and what kind of shape are they in?

Depends on how many they get at the seperator. The Springers are usually chrome until late in the run. Prime fish. Same with the coho. But the coho degrade faster.
