I did the dirty deed today!!!
« on: April 26, 2014, 09:54:46 PM »
Well pulled the trigger, wasn't sure til I sat down and dickered on the price and value of my 06 Duramax trade in-got 13+k for my Chevy...  So the new proud owner of a 2014 Ram 2500 crew cab/short bed 4x4.  They put on the after market lift and tires, well I got them to include at a way reduced price, lifetime oil change and warranty, walked out paying 35k total w/tax. lic and doc fees!!!  I think one of my better deals - it is worth more than what I paid...  I feel good about it with zero buyer remorse...  They gave me an excellent price for my trade, heck Dave Smith was stating 7k....  Nice to be pre-approved, with value in an older trade in with 250K...  So no hassles, no arguments, very easy to work.  My best dealership experience ever!    Car Pros Renton Dodge!  If you need a truck PM me, guy was great to work with, not the standard bs from dealers...

Congratulations on your new purchase.  Every now and then you find great people to work with at dealerships.  Just recently purchased an 03' Jeep Sahara to pull behind the motorhome.  No hassle, easy and fair deal.  Enjoyable transaction.

Great looking truck you got there.

I might be sending you a pm.  That's a hell of a deal.  A little recoup from taxes and I'm gonna be itching for a rig.

Nice truck!  I think you will love the Cummins too.

I'm assuming you paid 35k after the trade in?  If not that's a great deal I would like to know what dealer you used.

If I got the vehicle for 35K without a trade in I think I would have bought ten of them and sold to the highest bidder :chuckle: :chuckle:

I bought it new in 06 and drove it hard on a lot of gravel..  Dalton Hwy several times, Alcan hwy twice, and everywhere else.    The Chevy was awesome, only a couple of injectors, ball joints, brakes and shocks...    Figured it was easier to just trade it in than to sell outright....  I will miss that truck - a lot of good memories for sure and alot of dead animals rode home in the bed....    It was just that the mileage was becoming a problem in my mind @250,000 and the fact I hate working on vehicles and did want to spend time at the shop when things start going bad, as it is always a snow ball effect.  No matter what engine I had, it was still an 8 year old Chevy with a lot of hard miles.....  And of course wanted new....

Good job, Mike. That'll be a great truck for you.

That is good to know I've heard good things about the Chevy's for the most part. I had an 01 Cummins I loved it but hated that darn 4 speed auto just not enough gears for the fairly short power curve of a Cummins, it seemed to me every time I towed it was either screaming up in the RPM or lugging with no boost and egt's were shooting through the roof.  The new 6 speed is leaps and bounds ahead of the ol 4 speed auto. It seems to always put the rpm in the sweet spot at any speed limit something they should have done with auto's years ago.

Are you going to leave it stock, power wise?

Nice truck! I'm sure you will be happy with it. When I first saw what you got for your Chevy I thought they lowballed you pretty hard. Those 06 Duramaxes are going for a pretty penny. But after seeing your description and considering it was a trade in I think you pretty did good.

I have an 06 Duramax with the LBZ engine. Absolutely love that truck.

If you gravel road a lot I'd rhino liner the rocker panels (below door) and install bushwacker flares and rhino line them too.

I seen one done that way and it was sharp

Added some Bushwhacker fender flares and some rails to step up (Wife's request)....  Ordering a cab for the back and not another cent to be added, well maybe a new front bumper and find someone to paint rear and grill black...  Really an anti-chrome person...

I have grown to hate chrome!
Especially on the older flat bumper fords that reflect your headlights right back in your face.
Trucks look so much better with black detail instead of chrome.
It only took US vehicle makers 30+ years to get rid of the god-awful two-tone grey paint and fake wood like plastic, I figure another twenty will get rid of the cheesy plasticky chrome accents.
LOL

Nice truck!

He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.
