JB Compound?
« on: April 30, 2014, 10:05:19 PM »
Do any of you use JB compound for cleaning your rifle bores?  I was watching Shooting USA and they were talking about running a patch with Kroil Oil followed with JB Compound.  The bench rest shooters secrets bore cleaning set up.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Only have used it on used rifles I have purchased with extreme fouling in the throat area. I would never let the stuff touch a stainless match grade barrel.

I'm all for it when used correctly. Kroil is amazing stuff and that's my primary cleaning solvent unless I'm trying to get copper fouling out.

The JB Bore only comes out if I have a carbon ring that I can't get out after soaking the barrel over night with the Kroil. I would rather use JB Bore (properly!) than a standard bronze brush in a high end barrel.

The JB Bore also works for trying to save the throat on a barrel that's been shot almost to the point of no return. Then there are those times when no amount of lapping will save the barrel. (RIP 300 RUM barrel :sry: :chuckle:)

I do the same, and some high end guns come with it. JP Precision is one.
