Wyoming Moose-Bighorn Mt.
« on: May 14, 2014, 12:06:33 PM »
Hey all,
Drew Bighorn Mt. moose tag unit 34. I have never been there, has anyone ever hunted the area for elk, deer, antelope or moose? I have talked with 2 biologists. Sounds like the population is steady. They said forget the deer hunt since the deer migrate out before the season opens. What kind of hunt can we expect? Is hunting the wilderness boundary a good idea or is the area around the Hwy 16 just as good?
Any advice for this OIL hunt is appreciated!

We are looking to wall tent it somewhere off hwy. 16, spend about 10 days to get it all done, left room for a few antelope, applied for a couple doe tags too boot!

Thanks!

Congrats on the tag.  I hunted elk in 38 which would be unit 1 for moose.  Saw lots of nice bulls alive and a few nice ones that were taken by the bow hunters.  Saw pictures of one of them and the guy told me it would probably be the new state record taken with a bow. Good luck and have fun.  The Big horns are a special place.

Congrats on the tag finnman. I've been following this unit for a while now. I'm still a couple years from drawing though. Do you mind if I ask how many points you had?
