How many people hunt with an ar chambered in 308?

Advantages? Disadvantages?

Been thinking about purchasing one to hunt elk and bear with.

We have several. Never thought about hunting with them though.

I've killed a few critters with my AR-10, nothing wrong with that. They are accurate and its somewhat natural for me because I use the same rifle in competition.  :twocents:

Yes.  One lower and 3 different uppers for different purposes.  Hunting (20" light profile 338 Federal), High Power competition (18" medium profile 308) and long range (22" bull barrel 260).  Having the same lower helps develop muscle memory for cheek weld, etc and it is nice to have a reason to shoot your hunting rig a lot.  After developing a load for a bolt gun I just look at it and think "now what?"

I have an LMT MWS .308 but it's 10lbs bare and with a scope it's pushing 12. Don't really feel like hauling it around but it is a 1/2 MOA gas gun. Now if I had a Larue PredatAR in .308 I'd consider hunting with it.

We have a couple and have hunted with them in 308 and 7mm-08. I just finished one a couple weeks ago with a shorter barrel to run with my suppressors. I am sure it will knock down a few critters in the following years.
