I took my dog Baxter for another hike today since it was so nice out. While we were hiking I noticed Baxter amp up a bit and start sniffing the air. Then I hear noise back in the wood like a stump ripping open. It went quiet for a minute but I decided to just stay put and listen. A short bit later I could hear an animal coming through the brush, then I could see leaves moving. I told Baxter to be still. I always have him on a leash and he listens very well to me. A couple of moments later this bear pops out at about 30' sniffing around. Baxter looked right at him but remained totally silent, he is excellent that way. I took some pictures and the bear looked right at me, then turned and went into the brush again. That sure made a great day out of it.
