2 cods of a different color
« on: June 03, 2014, 03:55:55 PM »
got these two in almost the same location yet different colors on both...WHY??  both were caught within 1/2 hour of each other within 50 yards of each other...damn fine fish.  but why the color difference??

:yeah:

The blue ling has a taste for crab and other shellfish, while the other normal colored ling probably easy mostly just fish. Cabezon are the same way, but blue cabezon are more common in my opinion. Nice catch, I love blue lings. Did you happen to snap a picture of the blue ling flesh compared to the other normal lings flesh? Pretty cool stuff.

Has anyone ever noticed a taste difference between a Blue and a normal?

The green ones have a hint of mint flavor when you eat them raw!

had to change the face smossy girl...part of the witness protection plan.  cool...it's all in the food they eat...I did notice I had a slight blue tinge to my tongue after I ate the blue one.

Definitely due to diet.  We see the same time.  The lings will look normal and the cabazon's will be blue many times.  Usually due to the different stomach content.  Don't know if that is the scientific reason, but that is our conclusion after catching many of them.

no doubt the difference in meat color is due to diet, but the op pics are two differant skin colored cod. And I always thought lings were like camelions and changed "skin" color to their surroundings :dunno:
