Mallard storm
« on: December 01, 2008, 03:14:11 PM »
hey guys, yesterday i was set up in a goose feild and we hadnt been able to get any geese to really work with us but around 330 it was on with mallards. at any one point we had around 1000 to 5000 mallards. it was crazy.  and after shooting time ended they were still trying to pile in on us with our pick ups and us out there.

the northerns have made a move and i cant wait to get back out there wed. :mgun:

I was driving back from Seattle around that same time, and had a hard time staying on I-90 because I was looking at all of the birds!  It looked like a locus swarm of ducks around Moses Lake!

They have been on the North Pothole Reserve for a couple weeks...only going out to feed at dark....yesterday I noticed flights hitting the fields as early as noon.....maybe a few new birds because there was no reason weather wise for them to be feeding at that time.....

Sounds like what i saw in Othello on Friday night around hwy 24 just south of town. too bad the land the ducks where landing in was private and no hunting signs posted around it. :(  I put 600 miles on my truck this weekend driving from  Mattawa to Royal city and Othello, and didn't see that many geese at all!!!   Hope the northern birds show soon!

Alder street fill and Mont lake seem to be busy with waterfowl most of the day. Good sign!
