boisfort cow tag tips?
« on: June 12, 2014, 08:27:54 PM »
Hey guys. A buddy of mine who has no hunting partner drew a cow tag for boisefort. I think that's 5054.  Anybody knwo where he should buy an access permit?  He knows the area some, but I was hoping to be able to help him out a bit. I will probably join him on the hunt for moral support, since I'm hunting archery and he is doing modern. Just looking at huntx maps I figured out Port Blakely tree farm and Sierra pacific both have about 4000 acres. Weyerhaeuser has about 2000 acres, and RH Emmerson and Son, LLC have about 10,000 acres. Anybody knwo where he has the best chance of finding cows during modern season?  Thanks!

I would hunt the Sierra Pacific. Not sure where the Port Blakely is, and the Weyerhaeuser would cost $250 for the Pe Ell South permit.

Does anybody know about RH Emmerson and son land? I googled it and could only find some investment portfolio information. Nothing about land access or any info meant for the public. Seems to be just an investment company that buys timberland, but nothing about land access.  They are by far the largest land owner in the boisfort area, and I would love to know if anybody knows about that.  Thanks to that huntx app for being able to see land ownership and knowing how many acres are owned by who, but I thought maybe someone local has seen access signs at gates maybe with contact info...

If you look at the address for Emmerson it's exactly the same as Sierra Pacific, the same PO box in Redding, California. So I assume the Emmerson land is Sierra Pacific. I guess they just put it under a different name for tax purposes. All of the Sierra Pacific is open for hunting so the Emmerson is too.
