AR15 LOWER KIT QUESTION

I am about to purchase a Lower parts kit and it includes a trigger which I am told has a 5lb pull.  I have been warned to buy a different trigger assembly with a 3lb pull.  These warnings are all coming from bench shooters that don't hunt.  I am not a bench shooter, more of a offhand shooter, and this AR I am building will be for hunting only.  Is there that much of a difference between a 3lb pull and 5lb pull?  This is my first AR build, sorry for what seem as a stupid question.

A lot of hunting rifles are set at about 3 lbs if not lower. It will help improve your accuracy.

All 5 of my ARs have the Rock River National Match trigger (3#?) witch is a much nicer trigger than the standard "hit the trigger with a rock to fire it" trigger.  But be warned--the trigger itself (trigger/hammer combo) is $130.00 and is something you can change later if you decide the standard trigger is not to your liking.

Standard mil spec trigger range is 5.5-9.5 pounds. For a hunting rifle in the ar-15 range 5 pounds is not to bad. I have rifles with triggers from 3 pounds to 7 pounds. There is a company called ALG. I am a stocking dealer for them and I have switched to using their triggers in 90% of the builds. There ACT trigger is super and breaks really clean.

I am always nervous of non branded stuff. Also I am not sure if it makes a difference but the one you listed in under the paintball area on amazon.

Check out palmetto state armory and rainier arms. I went with a Daniel defense lpk and the trigger is fantastic for a kit. I would buy that one of amazon, a lot of that crap is a knock off

I used the Rock river lower parts kit from Joe Bob's outdoors,thing is I got a Navy Armorer/Machinest in my hip pocket,he tuned the trigger from a 5.5 pound break to a snifter under 3 with stock equipement,even though I had also purchased the JP Enterprises low power spring kit.A file here and some stoning there get's one right where he want's to be.

Don't get me wrong I love the RRA two stage for a lot of my hunting AR-15's. I am a firm believer is a 2 stage trigger for big game hunting. I have them in a couple rifles like the 243wssm and 6.5 Grendel.

For my coyote rifles and a few of my defensive weapon builds. The ACT is amazing. No creep/travel, mine are breaking at around 5.8-6lbs. For rapid fire running down a dog or quick 2nd rounds on target the act is hard to beat. I do not like 2 stage triggers for fast shooting.

I agree, I've been looking around for a good AR trigger that isn't 150.00 plus shipped. I had not heard of the ACT trigger until you mentioned it.  The reset on a two stage isn't that quick. I'll PM you.

+1 for the ACT combat trigger.  I installed them on both my AR's.  Get a name brand mil spec LPK and the ACT trigger.  Unless you are setting up a competition rifle you will be fine.  Spend your $$ on a good scope or some high end binoculars.

If you put  in a RRA 2-stage trigger in a hunting rifle you will not be sorry.  Around 120 bucks.  It has some travel, breaks like glass 3-4 pounds, and the reset is acceptable for hunting use.  Just my experience with the factory supplied RRA Varmint EOP w/2 stage.

I have the RRA NM 2-stage trigger in all 5 of my ARs, and love them.  I don't know where the "reset" problem comes from, since while I was getting used to the first one, I had to be careful not to "double-tap" the target.  I shot a friend's AR with a Timney trigger, and although it was a nice trigger, I decided that I liked my RRA triggers better.
