Marlin 336 30-30

I picked up a brand new Marlin 336 last year in 30-30, don't know if is Remington built or Pre. But, anyway I shot it 3 times and the big loop handle will not lock into place, therefore you cannot fire the gun. I don't really want to ship the gun back to them. Any thoughts about what is wrong with it? any good gun smiths in the Everett area

Try removing the bolt, cleaning it and reassemble.  Lots of videos out there on how to:
