Wyoming leftover tags
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:04:10 PM »
Is there any difference between the normal leftover tags and the ones that are called "unlimited"?  All the unlimited one still have a quota of sales so I don't understand why they're called unlimited. Looks like July 10 is the on sale date for the "normal" left overs and July 17 for "unlimited" tags.

That's a good question. I'm a little confused on the "unlimited" tags as well. The only thing I can figure is that the number a person purchases is unlimited. With the regular doe tags, you can buy two. Maybe with the unlimited tags you can buy as many as you want.  :dunno:

If I understand it right :dunno: each region has multiple units.  Some of these units are unlimited quota tags and others are limited quota tags.  An unlimited tag gives you the option of hunting any of the unlimited units within that region.  If you get the normal tag that would be for the limited units.  That tag will allow you to hunt one single limited draw unit within that region.

Nope. If you look at the doe fawn leftover tag list, both the "regular" and "unlimited" tags have specific units mentioned. Nowhere in the unlimited tags do you find just a region given.

The answer is probably really obvious.

Hmmm!  Guess I will have to ask my guide friend over there.  I haven't hunted deer in WY since the preference thing started about 5 years ago.  Took me forever to get a straight answer on the Full Price Regular -vs- Full Price Special -vs- Reduced Price.  And folks think Washington is confusing!

I assume you have already read these.  But, it is about the closest thing I could find explaining the difference on their website.  I sent an email to my guide friend.  We'll see if he actually answers.  Dang ropers aren't much good at communication :chuckle:

(ee) “Limited Quota Reduced Price Doe or Fawn (doe/fawn) License” - means a license which may be authorized in specific hunt areas allowing a person to take doe or fawn animals independent of what may be taken on a general license or full priced limited quota license.

(cc) “Limited Quota Licenses” - means licenses limited in number and valid only in a specified hunt area(s) or portion(s) of a hunt area, for a specified type of weapon, for a specified sex, age class or species of big game, trophy game, wild turkey, or sandhill crane during specified season dates.

(o) “General Licenses” - means big or trophy game or wild turkey licenses valid in any hunt area in which licenses have not been totally limited in number. General licenses shall be valid only under species, sex, age class, and harvest limitations that are in effect for each hunt area.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

You have your dates wrong. The buck tags go on sale July 10th and the doe tags July 17th.

Tough paying full price for antlerless elk. :'(  Decided to go for it since it comes with the fishing license too.  Bought 1 of 21 left over tags in the unit we hunt.  I like the taste of Wyoming elk :chuckle:
