Some time ago, in another forum there was a thread where someone asked, "How do you make smokeless gunpowder, not black powder." The conclusion was that "You can't." Given the fact that gunpowder is in such short supply, what if a few guys, with some money to invest in the right manufacturing equipment, wanted to set up a lab and make a good general purpose rifle powder or pistol powder. What do you think it would take to get set up? I envision a cooperative of between 50 and 100 guys, each putting in enough money to get the process rolling. We would purchase the equipment, get it set up, and make enough gun powder for our own shooting and hunting needs. This is not meant to be a business where we resell gun powder but just for our own use. The idea is to circumvent the current shortage by manufacturing enough high-quality gunpowder, based on current best-practices, safely and economically. Since we wouldn't be interested in turning a profit, just covering our costs, we wouldn't need to have a business license, etc. Does anyone on the forum think this is possible and if so, what kind of resources would be needed? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
