Training a new dog
« on: July 03, 2014, 06:42:14 PM »
Ok I am probably over doing this but I want to get as much work in before hunting season as possible. So if any of you are doing some training with live birds or running your dogs in a trails type event I would be interested. I learned a lot about dog handling the last trip and cant wait to learn more. My dog is a started dog and I would rather get the jitters out while doing it for fun . All hunting is fun but there is a difference when shooting blanks. Anyways any suggest on how to do more live bird work that would be great. I would love to buy some live birds to work with

Check AKC, HRC and NAHRA web sites for retriever clubs in your area.  Many have tests and training groups that you can become involved in.

Everybody started somewhere.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.
