Gearing up for the season
« on: July 10, 2014, 09:12:54 PM »
I have spent a fair share of time in the woods carrying a smoke pole, but never one of my own (most years I focus on archery and modern). This year I am looking at taking the leap and purchasing my own. I am really hoping to get one by the end of the weekend. Although I'm sure most these questions have been asked, I wasn't able to easily find the answers I needed searching the topics. I value your conglomerated opinions much more than a salesman trying to push me whatever he prefers, so any input would be appreciated!

-Can most muzzle loaders be converted to be NW legal, if not already?

-Is there a clear and evident part of the description that tells me if it has an exposed percussion cap and is WA legal?

-Currently I am most interested in the Traditions Vortex ultralight, T/C Pro Hunter FX, and the Knight Disc Extreme. Any experience with them that your willing to share? In most the threads I have encountered, quite a few people seem rather partial towards the Disc Extreme.

Thanks in advance for your time and any response!

Scott

You will hear a lot of love/hate opinions of the Vortek. I have one. I love it. It has never let me down. The only issues I have had have been results of my own mistakes, not the gun's failure. I have no experience with any of the others.
Most muzzleloaders you find around here for sale are probably going to be NW legal. Most models will say they are a NW edition or such.
Be careful though, once you get one of your own you'll likely want to get them all  :chuckle:
At least thats how it happened with me.

Thanks a lot for the input! I ended up settling on the Accura V2. Hopefully I'm not disappointed.

I absolutely see the urge already to buy another. hahaha

You're going to love the Accura V2! The T/C's are great, but it is really hard to beat the CVA Accura's!

Let us know what you think about it when you get out and try it!

Finally got the time and all my needed gear to get out and pop a few caps. The V2 shot beautifully. The trigger breaks very nice. The plug didn't seize up a bit. After 4 shots, the 5th still went down with relative ease before cleaning. I started at 50 yards, having no idea where I would hit, the first two shots were about 2 inches high and nearly center punched each other. So it was pretty spot on at 100 yards.

Can't wait to hit the field in a month and a half!
