Every once in awhile I get asked 'how I clean the bore' - well today while cleaning the ULite I thought I would take the opportunity to show what I am doing.

Nothing 'earth shaking' but certainly easy and quick for me... And yet I know others probably have a method that is just as easy for them. This is just something that works for me and I have gotten pretty good at it...

One thing I fail to mention in the picture - The 'Weasel' has been lightly oiled with Montana X-Treme Bore Conditioner - a very little bit of it goes a very long way...

After this ready to go shoot again or store in the safe...

Ooops...I hit the Post box a bit too fast there.....Was wondering how many rounds you had through the gun before you cleaned it? Just as a reference of dirtiness?

I shot 15 shots the other day at the rock pit. But one other bit of information, because I want the bore in about the same condition every time I shoot I do run a slightly damp Windex patch after each shot. I do not have to run the patch I just feel it keeps things closer to equal...

My procedure is exactly the same except for the last operation. Is the bore snake dry or lightly oiled? I usually run a light oiled patch down and follow with a dry for storage. Never have a problem with corrosion or reliability for the next shooting session.

Very lightly oiled - I use Montana X-Treme Bore Conditioner

do you run that bronze brush section through the bore as well? Thats pretty hard on the bore coat and will scratch/remove it from a knights bore or any bore coated in bore coat.

been using this same kind of set up in My Remington 700 for some time but only when I go hunting

works pretty well I might Add . How ever I still will use the bucket and hot water during my regular shooting events or when I am putting it away for a spell like to give it a good all over cleaning . Always nice to see this kind of stuff being passed around to folks .

I got the multi-season deer tag this year and it's been to dry to shoot. I haven't used my muzzle loader for 8 years. I purchased 300 gr Traditions Smackdown SST's. So we've been getting lots of rain and Friday I shot it. Couldn't remember how I used to clean it so I used Sweet's, cleaned up real quick. How does the Windex work on plastic fouling? Or does the bore snake that care of that.

Sweets is a great product... Windex has no effect on plastic fouling - the property that Windex has is the tad bit of ammonia in the product. Ammonia is a great metal stripper and combined with the liquid it cleans and neutralizes the bulk of the powder residue from the bore.

I believe 'plastic residue' is a thing of the past the new Polymer formulations they are using in sabots has done away with plastic fouling.

I've been dropping the trigger group, cleaning with gunscrubber, and lubing and reinstalling after every session. Do you clean your trigger group every cleaning, or just occasionally? Any corrosion issues?

If the rifle is a Mk-Wolverine-Big Horn series then I would clean the trigger group with each range session or after several shots. If it might be a DISC series, I would not bother with the trigger near as often.
