Best chance for getting a bite next week?
« on: July 21, 2014, 05:57:31 PM »
I have the luxury of being able to fish during the week next week. Probably just for 2 days, maybe 3.  Any ideas of my best chance to catch some salmon from the shore with my wife and kid?  Both are excited to fish, but I would like to take them to a hot fishery and not sit on a beach with no fish yet!   I was thinking the columbia for sockeye, but with all the fires over there I'm not sure if it will be possible or enjoyable.  I dont think the silvers or kings are thick enough anywhere around here yet?  Any tips would be helpful. I will go anywhere! Thanks!

Maybe plunking the Columbia down south?  Check Ifish.  It should give you an idea of what's going on.

:yeah: Maybe plunking off the beach at Willow Grove for steelhead. Use a spin n glo and coonshrimp. Set lines at different distances from shore to find where the fish are travelling. Check the tides, fish the outgoing as you will be assured to have current to fish. Use a solid rod holder, stiff PVC or one made for this style of fishing and set your drag a bit loose. These fish can and will yank your rod right in to the river.
Fish hard, hunt harder!
