I have fished it in a boat. We did really well. You will need a pump if you go in a boat, a prop wont work. We entered from the salt and went up river.
not true, you can go up from the mouth with a prop if you're careful.  of course, this is with a little aluminum fishing boat, no way i'd be going up there in a big fiberglass bay type boat.

i prefer to launch at the fort lewis access and run down river(i have a jet), that is, if the knuckleheads down there don't all park along the river and block me from going in/out(they have a little "designated boat launch" but it's useless unless you're launching a rubber raft, and odds are some cracker will be sitting in lawn chair there anyway)
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
